Cornton, UK: Footballer fatality garners widespread social media activity

While British Transport Police has said that the death of a popular footballer on a level crossing in Cornton, Stirling on May 7th, 2016 is being treated as non-suspicious, football fans are left wondering what happened. With tributes coming thick and fast on social media, it is clear the death of 27-year-old Chris Mitchell just a few months after he took a full-time job and quit league football has hit both players and fans hard. With appearances for Clyde, Livingston, Queen of the South, Falkirk and Bradford City in his professional football career, the clubs have been active mourning the loss of a popular and talented player.
