Anahuac, Mexico: At least 16 killed in collision with a bus

At least 16 people have died and 30 more have been injured after a freight train collided with a bus on a level crossing in Anahuac, Nuevo Leon state, northern Mexico at 5.25pm on February 13th, 2015.

Local media has reported that the bus driver failed to stop as required at the passive level crossing on which the accident occurred, It has also been reported that there were as many as 60 passengers on the bus which had a seating capacity of 40. Further reporting says that the bus driver had consciously decided to beat the train to the level crossing.

Civic leaders have said that two children were among those fatally injured in the collision involving a Kansas City Southern de Mexico which split the bus in half as the bus was straddling the railway.
