USA: Norfolk Southern’s Cayela Wimberly joins Operation Lifesaver board

Cayela Wimberly, Grade Crossing Safety Director for Norfolk Southern Corporation (NS), has been named as an Operation Lifesaver Inc (OL) board member, OL President and CEO Joyce Rose has announced.

“Cayela Wimberly’s expertise with highway-rail crossing safety issues, paired with her technical background in electrical engineering, communications and signaling, will make her a great asset to the Operation Lifesaver board as they work to advance our rail safety education mission,” said Rose.

Rose noted that the OL board of directors is the governing body of the organisation, responsible for determining OL’s overall mission, priorities and direction and providing oversight to ensure that programmes and services are carried out effectively.

A native of Macon, Ga., Wimberly has held several positions during her 10-year career at NS, mainly in the Engineering – Communications and Signals Department.  Her experience includes serving as C&S maintenance supervisor, highway crossing signals engineer, and administrator, grade crossing program.  Wimberly also serves on AREMA Committee 36 and is a National Council of Uniform Traffic Control Devices technical committee member. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering technology and a Masters of Business Administration degree from Georgia Southern University
