Mumbai: Punctuality will improve when a level crossing is eliminated

20 Oct

Punctuality is set to improve on Mumbai’s harbour railway line when the Chunabhatti level crossing is eliminated and replaced with a bridge over the railway. At present trains can be delayed five minutes while people continue to cross the railway.

The works have been authorised by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) as a component of a wider 1.6km highway improvement project. The MMRDA has said that it expects the over bridge to be constructed over the coming six months, an ambitious goal. The project in total has a cost of INR1.65 billion.
