Shrepreth, UK: Full barriers on the way in 2018

2 Oct

The long running saga of the Shepreth automatic half-barrier level crossing adjacent to Shepreth railway station and the risks to which pedestrians are exposed appears to be moving to a conclusion. Agreement has been reached that when the re-signalling of the Cambridge area planned for 2017-2018 the half-barriers will be replaced with full width barriers. This will have the effect of reducing the risk to pedestrians who will nip around the lowered half-barriers in pursuit of the train they wish  to catch.
