Oxford: Opposition to crossing closure continues, school playground extension the casualty

10 Sep

The long-running saga of the Aristotle Lane private footpath level crossing in Oxford sees continuing opposition from allotment holders, despite a bridge already in use just a short distance away. However, add in residents who fear being overlooked when a new bridge to replace the existing bridge and there is, as might be expected, delay within the planning process.

Who are the losers? Not allotment holders who will use the safer grade-separated route across the railway, Nor those who use the existing footbridge to public land west of the railway. But, the children at an adjacent school are the losers because without consent to the closure of the footpath crossing, the much-needed playground extension will not be approved with inevitable delays to the project.
