Nunthorpe, UK: Network Rail & Council challenged to ride the main roads

2 Sep

Cyclists frustrated by the closure of the Morton Grange Farm level crossing in Nunthorpe last October have challenged Network Rail and Council staff members to ride the diversionary routes which take cyclists on the busy A171 or A173. This challenge has come about because of a lack of progress in constructing the proposed new route that will take cyclists to an existing underpass, originally constructed to allow cattle to move freely between pastures on either side of the railway. Landowner consents will be required as the proposed routing is over privately owned land.

Now, we await to hear if the challenge to ride on September 3rd, 2014 is accepted by either or both or the agencies invited. The wait is over, both Network Rail and the Office of Rail Regulation turned down the invitation.
