Newbury, UK: Asleep at crossing, pleads guilty to drunk driving

A motorist who was found asleep in his car at the Thatcham CCTV equipped manually controlled level crossing, near Newbury, had stopped in a precarious position when police officers found him on July 25th, 2014, was more than three times over the drunk driving threshold. The motorist who has previous related convictions entered a guilty plea at Newbury Magistrates Court.

The court has advised that all options remain open and therefore there is a possibility that a custodial sentence will be imposed when the case resumes. meanwhile the motorist is subject to an interim driving ban.
