Chichester, UK: Fatality close to level crossing

A man has been fatally injured as a result of having been struck by a train in the vicinity of the Drayton Lane level crossing in Chichester, West Sussex. The fatality occurred shortly before 20.00 on August 13th, 2014. British Transport Police (BTP) has said the incident is currently not being treated as suspicious and that they will be preparing a file for the coroner.

    As I attended this incident, I can confirm that it wasn’t a level crossing incident as such, but that the person walked 100 yards up the track and waited for the next train. Clive Robey, Level Crossing Manager, Network Rail.
