Old Denaby, UK: Footpath crossing to close, use the existing footbridge

13 Aug

Network Rail has taken the decision to close a footpath level crossing on Ferryboat Lane, Old Denaby, Doncaster, where there is already a footbridge available. The incidence of abuse, particularly by youths – some of who play chicken as trains approach at speeds of up to 75mph – has been the trigger for the short-notice closure of the crossing from August 16th, 2014.

Network Rail is developing plans for the provision of a bridge with ramped access for those who are mobility impaired or with prams, push-chairs or bicycles. Meanwhile, Network Rail is seeking to establish those who will, for the time being, be unable to cross the railway at Ferryboat Lane.
