25 Jul

British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed that a bus driver who failed to stop at a level crossing has been charged. The incident leading to this occurred on May 21st, 2014 on the Shore Road level crossing in Ainsdale, near Southport. The circumstances that form the basis of the summons involved the bus crossing against the flashing red lights and a subsequent collision with a lowering level crossing barrier.

Arriva, the employer of the bus driver involved in this incident has confirmed that it cooperated fully with the BTP investigation. The company also confirmed that it had taken appropriate action following its own investigation, the outcome of which is unknown.

A potentially serious incident and we don’t know what “appropriate” action was taken! It’s incredible … how are we ever going to understand why these things happen if appropriate actions are kept secret?
