Sittingbourne, UK: Second fatality at footpath level crossing

A man who was struck by a train on the Simpsons footpath level crossing in Bobbing, Sittingbourne, Kent, at about 09.25 on May 19th, 2014 is so far unidentified. This has led the police to ask for help in identifying the victim whose death they are treating as unexplained.

There was also a fatality at this level crossing when a female was struck by a train on December 22nd, 2013, in an incident that has been determined by a Coroner’s Inquest to have been as a result of the woman’s intent to end her life.

The level crossing is one that is being considered to see if it can be eliminated and replaced with a footbridge. Meanwhile, the level crossing is also equipped with Samaritans signage.
