USA: RGI addresses risk of derailment in level crossing collisions

16 Apr

The March 2014 issue of Railway Gazette International contains an excellent article considering the risk associated with collisions on level crossings that lead to a consequential derailment. The article can be accessed at http://www.railwaygazette.com/archive/search.html?tx_dc5archive_search01%5Bcontroller%5D=Search&cHash=42d6c64bdd427eb77f5b12511c0d7648&cat=dc-archiv&q=Level%20crossing

The article is based on work undertaken at the Rail Transportation and Engineering Center at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, which is very much involved in the planning and hosting of the Global Level crossing and Trespass Prevention Symposium from August 3rd to August 8th, 2014
