UK: Network Rail launches new guidance for crossing users

LXinfoImage1237-Network Rail crossing user resourceNetwork Rail has just launched interactive user guides and downloadable PDFs, available via the company’s website, to help the public use level crossings safely. These guides aim to inform pedestrians, drivers, cyclists and horse riders on the potential dangers at level crossings.

Network Rail has worked with the Office of Rail Regulation and Heritage Railway Association to produce this new guidance on level crossings. Network Rail has taken a new approach based on the user rather than the type of level crossing. Each crossing is unique and the interactive tool and accompanying PDFs aim to give users an idea of what to expect when using a level crossing. The guides cover the potential dangers such as distraction when using a crossing and understanding the safety warnings.

I mean, really … I don’t see how how this is going to help at Cornton No. 1. There’s nothing about how to deal with the problem there …
