Mersin, Turkey: Collision with minibus claims at least nine lives

At least nine people have been killed and a further five injured, two seriously, as a consequence of the minibus on which they were travelling being hit by a train. Local media reports say that the accident that occurred on a level crossing in Mersin during the morning commute on March 20th, 2014 points to a railway signalling failure. These same reports say that the barriers at the Taşkent level crossing were in the raised position at the time of the accident. Turkish media also says that no one travelling on the train were injured.

    Was at the funeral of one of the passengers. A sad day.
