Springfield, IL: ICC funds contribute to grade-separation project

The Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) has voted to allocate USD7.8 million from the State’s Grade Crossing Protection Fund (GCPF) towards the construction of a grade-separated route across the Canadian National / Illinois Central right of way in Champaign, Illinois. other funding for the USD15.7 million project is coming from the Illinois Department of Transportation, City of Champaign, Champaign County and Urbana County. The project which is part of a wider highway scheme to create a new east-west route to the north of Champaign from Interstate 57 to State Highway 45 is expected to be delivered within three years.
