Mundelein, Illinois: Quest for footbridge continues

11 Dec

The Village of Mundelein is continuing with its long-running quest for a footbridge over the Canadian National right-of-way adjacent to the Metra railway station. Having previously been turned down for grant funding the village is reapplying for a grant from the Illinois Grade Crossing Safety Fund administered by the Illinois Commerce Commission. The Village recognises that the first step is to get accepted within the five-year plan and that a significant matching contribution will be required of it. The case for funding the footbridge has been enhanced by developments around the railway station including a new village hall.
