Coal City, Illinois: ICC approves new level crossing on freight spur

The Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) has approved construction of a new level crossing on
Broadway Road in Coal City, Grundy County. The new automatic half-barrier is on a new spur off Union Pacific Railroad’s infrastructure to serve a new freight terminal being developed by Inland Logistics Port Coal City LLC.

Inland Logistics is paying for the new rail infrastructure and the level crossing of it and will fund on-going maintenance. There is wide support for the new level crossing as it is essential to the cost-effective delivery of the rail connection to the new facility.
