Louisiana: Study looks at red light photo enforcement

3 Dec

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has released a report that summarises a literature review of red light camera programmes that are designed to reduce crash frequency, severity, and costs. The study is of relevance to those considering the use of red light running photo-enforcement at level crossings as it examines effectiveness, public attitudes to red light running and photo-enforcement. Interestingly the study includes consideration of the provision, installation, maintenance and processing of red light infringements by a private contractor reward on a fee per ticket basis.

The study report can be accessed at: http://www.ltrc.lsu.edu/pdf/2013/fr_510.pdf.
