Melbourne, Victoria: Coronial inquests generate many recommendations

21 Oct

The coronial service in Victoria has released the findings of the inquests into the six deaths arising from the collision on the Kerang level crossing in June 2007 and also into other deaths occurring in level accidents across the state. These inquests have generated a slew of recommendations that should be of interest beyond the jurisdiction within which they have been made.

Appendix A is a worthy read for anyone having an interest in preventing or responding to level crossing accidents. As such, this document needs to be read and digested widely. To access appendix A which addresses a total of 26 deaths on level crossings across Victoria go to: http://www.coronerscourt.vic.gov.au/resources/0887b4fa-a1bd-476e-84f8-f1ebec5d9157/attachment+a.pdf.
