Marseille, France: RFF to the fore with crossing safety message

LXinfoImage1203-RFF event MarseilleRFF, the French national rail infrastructure manager held a major safety awareness event in Marseille as part of its high-profile national campaign to improve behaviours at level crossing. The event, held on September 29th, 2013, took place in the city’s Borély park in conjunction with a major cycling event.

RFF, together with its community based partners linked the level crossing safety message to the triennial “Vélo Tour, an event attracting nearly 7,000 cyclists. The start of the cycling event was branded with the RFF campaign message and visible to riders and spectators alike. The cyclists al received a goody bag including water, safety information and an invitation to submit a questionnaire online.

Another opportunity to engage the public was a safety quiz that allowed visitors to the RFF stand to answer a quiz shown on a screen with remote handsets. The attraction? A prize of a tablet. Also, actors delivered a show, “cycling and using a level crossing”. Other activities were run with prominent campaign branding.

On the occasion of the European Mobility Day, RFF also organised, together with the City of Toulouse, special events in the city centre to make the public aware of level crossing safety.
