Durham, North Carolina: Traffic separation study tabled at City Hall

4 Oct

The draft report for the Durham Traffic Separation Study (TSS) has been completed by North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the City of Durham. The report is now available for public review. The Durham City Council will hold a public hearing on October 21st, 2013 to receive public comment on the study report recommendations. Written comments may be submitted until November 19th

The Durham TSS is a comprehensive evaluation of traffic patterns and road usage at public level crossings in Durham County. The purpose of the study is to assess existing conditions and determine needed improvements to enhance safety. A total of 18 at-grade crossings and two grade-separated crossings (rail over road) are included in this study. Two prior series of public workshops have been held for this project, in November and December 2011 and March 2013. Following the public hearing, a final report will be prepared and presented to the City Council for consideration.
