LXinfoImage1202-WaterbeachBritish Transport Police (BTP) are trying to trace the woman who came close to being hit by a train on a level crossing in Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire, on September 12th, 2013.

The woman appears to have ridden around a lowered barrier at the automatic half-barrier level crossing just seconds before a train arrived. The train driver made an emergency brake application and was shaken by the incident.

BTP has made clear that not only was the woman lucky to be alive but that in ignoring the red lights and audible warnings she was committing a road traffic offence.

BTP has released images of the incident to highlight the risk associated with level crossing misuse.
The images show the woman cycling up to the tracks before braking hard and then moving back as the train travels across the level crossing..
