Motherwell, United Kingdom: pedestrian killed on level crossing

A male pedestrian died as a result of being hit by a train on the Logans Road level crossing adjacent to the junction of Logans Road and Bellshill Road (A721) in Motherwell. A footbridge across the railway is provided immediately adjacent to the level crossing.

The fatality which occurred at about 8.30am on July 9th, 2013 significantly disrupted train services for about two hours with both diversions and replacement buses utilised as the line remained closed to allow the initial investigation to proceed. A British Transport Police spokesperson has said “that there are no suspicious circumstances” and “a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
