Brandon, United Kingdom: Notorious crossing – action is promised

1 Jul

Following a public meeting convened by local MPs Andrew Hancock and Elizabeth Truss on June 7th, 2013, Network Rail has written to the MPs committing to sort out the Brandon, Suffolk, level crossing. The crux of the issue is the crossing which was renewed in 2012 “failing safe” and closing the busy road for extended periods.

Specifically, Network Rail has said that it was awaiting approval from the Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) to fix the crossing. Network Rail has also confirmed that it will pay for a bridge across the railway, should the postulated by-pass be built around Brandon.

Network Rail will be providing further information on the actions being taken in the short-term late this month.
