Dublin: Grade-separation will cut delays and increase train service

17 Jun

The level crossing on Ratoath Road in Dublin is to be eliminated by a grade-separation scheme costing EUR10 million with work on-site beginning now. The scheme, funded by Ireland’s National Transport Authority will be complete in early 2015, ending the 15-minute waits to which road traffic is subjected at peak times. This scheme is a win for both road and rail users as it will also allow the number of trains to be increased as these too are limited by the presence of the level crossing. The road-over-rail bridge is a joint Iarnrod Eireann (Irish Rail) – Dublin City Council project.
