Evans City, Pennsylvania: Police throw the book at bus driver involved in fatal collision on a level crossing

The Evans City Police have thrown the book at the bus driver implicated in the April 26th, 2013 collision on the Maple Avenue passive level crossing in which two elderly bus passengers were killed and other passengers injured, some seriously. The bus driver who is free on bail has been charged with multiple counts of involuntary  manslaughter, homicide by vehicle, assault by vehicle, reckless endangerment and  one count of failure to stop at the level crossing. Evidence leading to the charges includes that from the bus CCTV camera system that is reported as showing that passengers were aware of the presence of the train, that they shouted warnings to the bus driver who crossed the railway without stopping to determine that it was safe to cross as required by law.
