Melbourne, Victoria: Dumb Ways to Die scoops 7 awards

LXinfoImage1154-Dumb Ways to DieSeven, yes seven, awards in the 2013 Webby’s have been won by  Metro Trains’ public behaviour safety campaign Dumb Ways to  Die, which went viral and is now approaching 30 million online viewings.

Dumb Ways to Die has won both the Webby and People’s Voice awards in the  Best Viral Online Film & Video category. It has also won both the Webby and People’s Voice awards for Best Animation Film & Video as well as Best Viral Marketing Interactive Advertising & Media. In the Best Public Service & Activism (Social Content & Marketing)  category it won the People’s Voice award.

Hailed as the “Internet’s highest honor” by The New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including Websites, Interactive Advertising & Media, Online Film & Video, Mobile & Apps, and Social. Established in 1996, this year’s Webbys received over 11,000 entries from more than 60 countries worldwide this year.

Webby categories are split into an award, chosen by the International  Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, and a People’s Voice award.

The awards are to be presented on May 21st, 2013
